Over the weekend I took a seminar called the "National Neigbornet Coordinators Conference" which was organized by Young Muslims.
The seminar taught how to properly run a halaqa in your local community and key techniques in establishing leaders and mentors in that halaqa. I think this was one of the most useful seminars I've ever taken. Check out my notes. (The notes can be used for brothers and sisters, but they will have to be tweeked in some places if sisters are using them).
Mixed feelings are all I sense when I heard of your departing, While the remnants of your deeds have left judgment clear.
Neither did we meet, speak, or interact in any way, Yet your passing has effected Muslims from NJ to California.
It's hard to accept that you have left us so suddenly, For once we were in a room studying our deen together.
It feels awkward knowing your e-mail will never be opened, Or my facebook request will never be answered.
But Allah's will has been decreed, And nothing I do or say will change that.
As for me, my deeds just keep coming and going without direction, But you, your last moments were with Allah's book with an intention to memorize it fully.
I shed tears when I heard of your departure, Now it's my turn to follow in your footsteps.
May Allah (SWT) raise Sr. Noor with those who have memorized the Qur'aan. May He (SWT) forgive her for her sins and admit her to gardens under which rivers flow. Ameen
No matter how much we blame others for our losses, Whether it was their fault or not,
It all comes down to how much you've accomplished at the end of the day. In that case, it's you and what you do which'll make you satisfied, not those around you.
Chapter 110 from the Qur'aan Nasr (Assistance): 1. When the victory of Allah and the conquest has come, 2. And you see the people entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes 3. Then exalt with praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of repentance.
If Michael gets a Janaza which is broadcasted live on television, then inshaAllah our Da’wah in the West will have truly reached a pinnacle. Just as the conversion of high-profile individuals such as Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, Yusuf Islam, and Jermaine Jackson have done nothing but help the perception of Islam and bring hundreds of people into the deen, I hope Allah (SWT) lets Michael's death be an eye-opener for the world and a means for the guidance of multitudes of non-Muslims into Islam. Michael's death as a Muslim, as the former "King of Pop," and as one of the world's greatest humanitarians will be the means Allah will use for the guidance of our people, inshaAllah.
